so typically mondays in my world revolve around me fighting off the alarm clock, stumbling down the hallways toward my classroom (often right before the bell rings), trying to pretend i am awake and focused, and just generally mourning the loss of the weekend and being VERY ready for 3:00 to roll around.
if you can’t tell, i am not a monday person. most especially during football season since so much of the actual weekend gets eaten up by game day.
i’ve decided, though, in an effort to write more that i’ll make mondays a day of reflection on the little things. a list of gratitude. someone – maybe my sister? – use to keep a gratitude journal. i always thought it was a good idea. so now. i will proceed to steal it.
- a trip to texas and the chance to get caught up with some dear friends. it was too short, but very worth it.
- tasty coffee two mornings in a row. first from panera on university in fort worth and second from old school bagel on may here in the city.
- old school bagel in general.
- a pretty mellow start to the school year. it’s a nice change after two years of uncertainty on day 1.
- patrick cleaning up the kitchen and putting away groceries while i am writing this.
- nyquil and its ability to ALWAYS knock me out when i am sick so i can sleep.
- the two older gentlemen at the gas station at the new walmart in denton. i stopped there yesterday to walk around for a bit. when i was checking out i asked the cashier if i could get gas at the pumps in front of the store. he said yes. so i fight the traffic to get over there and proceed to try to pump my gas, which does in fact happen to be impossible if you don’t have a sam’s card. grr. BUT. the two men working came out, swiped a card for me, proceeded to pump my gas and then chat about football and the evilness of ou. they have no idea, but they seriously made my day. i was bummed about leaving my friends and not feeling very well at all, so it was a treat to encounter just plain ol’ niceness.
what about you? what simple, everyday things are you thankful for?
